Anyone ever run a Aeromotive Phantom in tank pump?
I have 2 problems. 1-My tank isn't baffled and 2- I need more pressure out of my pump. I say this unit and figured it fits the bill pretty good. Just have to see how High it stick out and if It will fit too. Anyone using one? How do you like it?

mnm99,
I put one in my Zephyr, pictures here: First Coast Cobra Club • View topic - Zephyr gets EFI'd - part 2 It sticks up around an inch I think (too late to measure!) and seems much quieter than the external pump it replaced. My tank isn't baffled either - this is my reason for using the Phantom. You can see the specs on Aeromotive's site to determine if it has enough capacity. It's plenty for my mild 557. Tom |

Thanks. It says it supports 800hp Supercharged. Plenty for me. I only have 1 inch from the top of the tank to play with. I want to install it behind the sender, but it says to keep it away. I want access to it though. Got to call aeromotive and see what they say. Heres a pic. I would be around 1 inch from it back. I cant put it all the way in the rear because of the slope up.

I don't use one, but an in-tank pump is a good idea. They run cooler and quieter, and they are more reliable (almost all OEM pumps in modern cars are in-tank).

mnm99,
I did the install because if I ever get the EFI going the car will see a little bit of track use at Sebring and similar places. A sump of some kind is mandatory and the Phantom looks like a good way to do it. Aeromotive probably wants the pump away from the float path for the sender. As long as there's no interference with the movement of the float it would seem OK. I don't know what your cover looks like for the floor above the tank, but a small dome-shaped bubble might be all you need if there is any interference. Tom |
I am
I am running one in my car. The fitting on top the tank is 7/8" tall. With the gasket, the 1" clearance is a good number. Unit performs flawlessly. The only drawback to it - it's a little pricey. But quality and performance is great.
