Wrecked Backdraft Cobra & GT 40 on iaai.com

Anybody notice the wrecked Cobra & GT 40 at iaai.com? This is the website for a company for insurance co's to liquidate their cars. Similar to Copart.com. Neither car is ready to sell yet & sometimes it takes months. I have saved the cars to see what they sell for. You must listen to the auction, because they only show the selling price for a few minutes after the auction. The Cobra is item # 13454382 and is in Houston. The insurance co paid off $40,700. The GT 40 is in Las Vegas and is item # 13275814. It is missing the front end. Seems the owner was paid $92,500. It's hard to tell what they will bring, but a VERY rough guess will be half of retail. Both should have a salvage title. I don't know if these states will let the public bid, or not. A dealer may be required. Typical lot fees are about $575, at least in Ga, where public can bid. I will post the selling price if anyone is interested. Bill.

Laws vary from state to state, here in Louisiana you have to have a dealer license to bid/buy at these salvage sales...........there are a number of dealers here that one can contact and go with to these sales, the dealer usually charges a hundred bucks and will bid for you up to the amount you tell him your willing to spend.....

You never know with salvage sales, sometimes you can get a car for almost nothing, then other times they go for a premium price.....kind of lie the BJ Auctions, you never know till the bidding starts......

Backdraft sold today for $21,750. Ins co may reject the high bid & relist at a Buy It Now price. If it reappears next week, i will update. GT 40 is selling tomorrow, I think. Bill.

Gt40

That 40 could be an interesting project.
Any idea what make it is?

I would venture that it is one of the 4 CAV GT40 Targas that were produced. If so, I looked at this one when it was a roller in La Jolla, CA. for $45k...but it had periscopes then.
