Little help, what am I? Old build, new owner.
New to site and not sure how to post pictures. Take a look at my profile pics and see if you can help me out. Thanks.

Gallery doesn't show me any pics?

Hard to tell from the pics. Rectangular tube chassis, looks like Mustang II front end. From there it is pretty hard to tell. Need a few pics that aren't quite so close up.

Sorry, took close ups of things that I thought may be specific to certain manufactures. I will try to get some pictures from farther away.

The rectangular tail lights and low hanging gas tank may give some of the people on here a clue. I haven't seen one with the gas tank hanging that low.

Boy, those are some big over-riders too. However, they could have been added from some other source.

LOL - maybe not for that car?
Huge wide stripe - different. :D |

Here we go again. A new owner comes here asking for help about his Cobra and out come the insults and bull****.
The body looks fairly accurate and the only glaring oddities are the dual non braced roll bars, the big wheels and the large appearing over riders, which could be exaggerated by the wide angle lens. Those would be simple to rectify if desired. It's an IRS car (jag?) and the standout features that may help ID it, assuming it's not a scratch build, are the frame members visible in the radiator opening and the really big door hinges. If there's a manufacturer out there who uses those it should be an easy ID. My guess is possibly a one off chassis with a ready-made body. Could easily be wrong though. |
It is not an IRS car. My guess would be Ford 7.5" or 8.8" and it has drum brakes in the rear. The front is a Mustang 2 front suspension from the looks of it.
|
Yup - you're right. Using my wife's I pad here. The axle and shock mount initially looked like a jag half shaft. My bad.
|
it has a nine inch rear. I thought that the door hinges, the framework in the grill, the gas tank, and the aluminum work under the hood(pictures don't do the aluminum work justice, doesn't look one off) would be more glaring clues as to where it originated. Past owners were of NO help. I drive my stuff and am concerned about origin because if I smack it up, I need to be able to put it back together again. I will post pictures from farther out and see if that helps anybody. Thanks for the input so far, even the bad, this car will change as time goes by....
|
I'd guess its a ground up build to a body shell. Those door hinges tell me so. Easy fix. Body looks pretty nice. Have fun with it. Post your upgrades!

few more pics added. The guy I bought it from thought it was a old Unique from the 80's. I don't believe it is a Unique frame or rear end because it's not round tube or indy. If it is that old, I suppose there were a number of manufactures that were short lived. It does have a 90" wheel base according to my untrained tape.

Hmmmm
Is that an early model Street Beast car? The way the lower radiator hose is positioned reminds me of one
