I don't want to dampen your enthusiasm but you're looking at A LOT of work (insert "$" here) to get that car to a running /driving automobile.
Just my opinion of course.

I totally agree! It would be a lot of work for sure. I guess I'm trying to figure out if it is worth the work it would require. This cobra sat in a field for a lot of years so there is a good amount of surface rust. I figure I could have the frame sand blasted and powder coated and that would make a big difference. The whole reason I'm posting this on the threads here is because I want some unbiased opinions from people that know much more than I do on the subject. I appreciate it! |

Can you tell if it is an actual kit, or is it more likely someone just through it together and built it themselves??

The chassis is strictly a home built item and is not any kit that has been on the market, ever..Unless you are making it in to a static display, wall art, or an ultra cool mailbox, you are better off passing on it. Even if they were paying you to get rid of it.

Until I saw that front cross member everything else points towards an attack cobra, bit not with those front rails or the cross member, which now screams "home built".
The more I look, the body itself is indeed out of the Attack Cobra molds, all the oversize flares, spoiler on the rear, front nose opening all coincide with an attack cobra body, there is not another like it on the planet

If I could make a suggestion, you might want to look for an unfinished Factory Five if you're wanting to get into a Cobra replica. I say Factory Five because parts are available, no matter what's missing from the kit and there is lots of people with the knowledge to help. To finish the car you're looking at, I'd say you'll need about $20,000 and I think that's conservative. For that amount, you could buy an FFR. Just something to think about.

Look on eBay, Cobracountry.com and on the FFR Fourm website. It's a site with huge amounts of info and pretty much totally pertaining to Factory Five.
Unfinished kits show up for sale here too but not as offten.

The front cross member,the double cowl hoop, and the tubing on top of the frame rail all look like a Johnex, but the top rail on the Johnex curves down just ahead of the crossmember, whereas yours continues forward to the front of the frame. Big clue : the Johnex had a perimeter frame with a unique curved crossmember under the seating area, with additional diagonal bracing going forward and outboard. What does yours look like underneath ?

I honestly haven't looked under the seating area...but next time I get a chance I will. So you think it could be a Johnex? Based on other comments from people this car is sounding like a hunk of junk... |

I had a Johnex at my house not that long ago, this is not a Johnex.

MM: The visable parts of the frame are similar, so the possibilities are : Jonex frame modified, or home built inspired by johnex, or just plain homebuilt. I have a Pic of the Johnex that I will attempt to attach, and the owner can use that as visual aid.

You could try contacting them and see if they say yes or no on this particular car. I'm not sure they are in business still but their website is operating (kind of): Johnex Cobras - Johnex3 Motorsports
Even if it is a Johnex, I still think it's not one to go for unless you're a glutton for punishment!
