Ok I have added a must do

I have just added another to my Bucket List.

I just saw the Woodward Dream Cruise write up..:D

With 40,000 attending and 1,00,000 visitors it really sounds like a must do..;)

The pictures and the site indicate this is a huge event.

So it's on my list..

However what else do you guys suggest I do if I come over to Detroit..

Would love to spend a week or so there..:3DSMILE:

How do you feel about Diana Ross, and that whole motown era?
Not car related, but, I figured it was about your vintage.

The studios/museum is out that way.
It was pretty cool to get out to that when I was there last...
It gave me a whole appreciation for music before my time.
Ie: the manufactured pop groups of my "vintage".
Spice girls anyone? Lol

Dimis, thanks yes I may consider..

I was thinking auto events and the Ford museums etc...

Then I could fit in a few static events and other museums

A group of us went to the first "4" Dream Cruises. It Got so huge it would take us 4 hours just to make the circuit that would normally take 20 minutes. Their is now a large Cobra contingent that has 13 mile Rd, (a cross street) blocked off just for Cobras.

At the time we had private access to a large Ford Dealership! Pretty cool, we'd get in town late evening on Friday go to the Ford Dealership let ourselves in, clean the cars, (They even stocked the car wash area for us!) Look at all the new Fords, do any work on our Cobras, Willy's, '34 Fords that needed done and hit the cruise!

When it took FOUR hours to make the circuit in 90' heat and Diane (my wife got out of the top less Cobra and walked the three blocks to our Hotel). That was our last DREAM Cruise.

THE ONLY way to describe it is a 72 hour party of cars, cruises and eats! You will be setting a record if you could see ALL the cars in 72 hours! IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN!

IF YOU DON'T HAVE A HOTEL ROOM NOW good luck with that!

They actually start cruising the weekend before the third Saturday in August, then they cruise every night, and somewhat during the day. There's always something going on during that week, I cruise the week before that Saturday and just park it on Sat. It's eight lanes of bumper to bumper traffic on that day. Much easier to sit and watch the cars. There is also a cruise called " Back to the Bricks" that goes on in Flint, Michigan at same time as Woodward. It's also a week long event and Flint is about 50 miles north of Detroit. Any way you look at it, that week certainly has enough cruising and sight seeing for any one.

Jack,
With all due respect and awe, Thank God we never met up at Woodward! :)

I'm sure we could have made the Tri-county Police Radios come alive! ;)

I'd like to think of that non-meeting as Cop Vs Fireman not Cobra to Cobra!

Thanks guys,

Yes I try to get to a few events each year there.

Have met you at London and Columbus, I thought it was time to get back midstates. I was at an earlier Spring Fling with Hershal, we drove across along Route 66 in his GT40.

Kitcar magazine Route 66 GT40 - link below...

Driving Route 66 In a GT40 - Kit Car Magazine

We were in Cal. earlier this year and went to Cars and Coffee at Irvine, Big Boys along with Edelbrocks huge day in Torrance.

Took in a cruise night in Escondido as well. My son wanted to go to Foose so we added that in as well.

So yes I want to get to Detroit.

For heavens sake! The best "Flings" were when the Aussies showed up!

I do hope you make it to Woodward!

If you can, plan on "Days and not Hours!"

Yes I think Mike was in town the year before me and I was there twice.

Rohan the Victorian Club President was there the following year.

Cheers
