It has a Canada stamp in the front of the frame.

It certainly looks like it is the only thing I see missing is the roll bar mounts on top of the spring pockets.

Yes it is.

I have built a few SB,s for customers and it was a challenge. I do not think the average home builder could put one together in to a quality car. This car seems to be better construed Could this be a copy from Canada . The only thing that is not good is the body serifs. the glass is 3/8 to 1/2 and the body is symmetric. I never saw a SB that was the same side to side.

Is this a customers build? Would a SB have a chassis number on the frame where its punched "Canada"?

Bill E 10-18-2014 06:41 PM

My customer bought this car from a guy that got it from a guy . No numbers any where Just CANADA stamped on the front driver frame horn.

Just curious because my SB does not seem to have any numbers on it either. I thought the previous owner had welded over it when he relocated the radiator support.

Thanks,
Tony

He did not get an MSO with the car so registration will be difficult. Is any part of SB still around?

tony laboy 10-18-2014 10:10 PM

That may be a problem in CA. Your customer may want to look into that before he moves forward with this project. SB has been gone for a few Years now.

Good Luck with it ,
Tony

Quite sure the frames came with no numbers on them. It was not a problem when time to register the car here in Maine at least.

Did you present an MSO to ME DMV? Or were the stack of receipts enough to determine tax?

Hate to say it, but that Canada stamp may very well be where the metal was made. I have seen similar stamps like that on material from Russia and Mexico.

My old CMC did not have any stamps or marking on the frame of body. There was a tag in the plastic bag with the MSO you were supposed to attach to the car before you took it for inspection.

I built this car 20 yrs. ago as I remember it was a perceived value. Quite sure I made up the VIN number as per the towns request. I put my own replica tags and stamped the VIN number in the cowl tag.
