Which hydraulic throwout bearing ?
Hi guys,
I am searching for the best hydraulic throwout bearing for my engine/tranny package. What will I need to check before ordering ? Here's what I have : Ford FE 390 engine with Tremec TKO600 tranny (TCET4617). Pressure plate is diaphragm style. Thanks, Stephan |

Here's a general question. Why would you want a Hyd TO bearing? Clearance? Reliability? Why not a conventional bearing /fork design with a hyd slave?

Clearance
On some cars, clearance is a real issue.
Not all hydraulic throwout mechanisms are created equal. I've heard positive on Tilton and some negative on McLeod I'm interested in what others have to post. Paul |
I just had mine changed over to a internal hydraulic throw out bearing and LOVE the amount of pedal and the way my car now shifts etc. I'm not a gear head & wasn't a big fan of the internal from what others have said and what I have grown up. Based on on my guru motor man's experience and the proven track record of the internal thought I've give it a shot. The pedal is soooo nice and a real joy to drive now. I'm sure someone will be able to give you some feed back as to the negatives and positives but all I can say is Wow....Sweeeeeeet!!!! Love the newer technology! I know the old external slave is easier to get to, etc but once the drive shaft was dropped and the tranny slid back it was a piece of cake to get to.
