Yes and I did leave and was gone, but Jamo invited me back, since then I have gotten my 2nd wind

"I see the one person I invited to provide an apology to the members chose not to...speaks volumes." - Jamo

Back to some real content, earlier the cost of "rollers" was mentioned as if to imply they were equal and one could base a purchasing decision on that. What was lacking were the roller details. Here's a breakdown of "what you get" when making such a comparison, provided as FYI only.

Don't know why the double/partial post, CC has been acting strange this AM.

I don't own a Kirkham so I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure many of the items listed as unique to Alloy Cars are included in the Kirkham.

You "never said it (leaving the site)." And then you admit you did leave this site.

Your credibility is suffering terribly. Can we now believe what you say about Alloycars or short-stroke engines are "revvier"? :D

Maybe so, I think Alloycars filtered through the data available on the website and the deltas you see are what they found. The bottom of that page where the options are listed I found interesting, some of the differences there are significant, particularly when considering it should be a direct 1 for 1.

Mike are you saying you choose a FF5 over a Kirkham or a CS?

As I mentioned above, ALOT of details are missing, but I'm sure they'll be posted soon after my post here. ;)

We all know what type of differential Kirkham supplies (aluminum replica of the original), but Alloycars just states IRS. And then there are the wheels. Kirkham provides pin drive, but Alloycars doesn't specify bolt-on or pin drive. I could on and on. **)

Yes, the FFR frame was more suited to my purposes which will become apparent in the not too distant future and the FFR body is a POS that I just have to deal with. Please be clear, I am not saying the FFR is a better car, just more suited to what I am doing. If I were to go out and buy a roller for the purpose of driving without significant modification, it would without a doubt be a Kirkham. If I wanted something truly original it would be one of the wide body small block AC cars from the UK.

rodneym 01-27-2015 11:45 AM

I just came back from Alloy Cars' website and saw the Comparison.

The Kirkham is a much better value than I thought.

I seriously doubt it. While they may be fine metal crafters, they know very little about the chassis on which they are fitting a body.

rodneym 01-27-2015 11:51 AM

Mike,
Who know little?
Alloy Cars or Kirkham?

Paul (Fatboy) posted a closeup pic of their "prototype" (since they haven't built one production car yet, that is for sale to the public), and the quality comparison would favor Kirkham by a considerable margin.

If the price delta between Alloycars and Kirkham were say $30K ($79,995 versus $49,995) for an alloy Cobra, then I think we could have a more serious discussion of comparing "apples to apples."

The guys that wouldn't listen when told their prototype was a MKII chassis. They guys who hurled insults when informed that mustangII spindles wouldn't fit their chassis. The guys who refused to post a single picture so that those of us willing to help them could give accurate advice. Keep in mind that I was communicating with them through multiple PMs. I gave lengthy explanations as to why I needed a couple of pictures to assist them technically. They never sent them.

IMO, Nobody in their right mind would challenge Kirkham's technical abilities.

Whew.
I thought you may have had a screw loose.:JEKYLHYDE
I must have read it wrong.

I've got more than one screw loose, and a few cross threaded too.

That's an excellent question. For reference, the original 1960's series of cars were 0.050" thick. And the Kirkham/Shelby alloy bodies are 0.059" thick.

Please excuse me, I'm quoting myself, but a question was posed earlier, which never was answered.

What gauge aluminum does Alloycars use?

The Kirkham comes with a 28 gallon stanless steel fuel tank, the Alloycars Cobra comes with "fuel tank."

What type of dash gauges do you get with Alloycars?

The Kirkham provides you with their very reliable Speedhut gauges. Alloycars states that you get "gauges, full set."

Gages should be the same as FFR supplies which are also Speedhut. My FFR came with a Fuel Safe, but I don't know what they supply these days.

I would go even one step further, knowledge about the chassis is zero. Remember, they did not even know the wheel base a couple of weeks ago!

Order a roller from a company which don't know anything about the Cobra? If I build 150, no 15 naaaaahhh NO one car I know the wheelbase!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They did not.
Mustang II spindles? Sure Mr. Nobody all Cobras using Mustang II spindles...

As long that phrase "we build 150 alloy Cobras" comes up, they get ripped in pieces.
As long they don't show a finished product of their own their butts are in meat grinder.

Bottom line is: They never build a production Cobra body. They never build a Cobra chassis (prototype or not). They have absolute little to none experience or knowledge about the Cobra - but they managed to sucker these two gentleman in, sweet talked and creamed them...

Pete, didn't they build a MKII prototype, which they plan to destroy now? At least I thought they did.

They build a perky butt, wrong arches, misscut hood scoop, off FF5 copy alu body and stuck it on a car - an FF5 not theirs.
So, I repeat (not repete - don't go there:D), no production alloy body, no chassis - ever!

PS: after all these lies from Alloycars, I bet $100 that that body on their "show car" does not go into the dumpster!!!!!!!!
