Seat Belt Types
 
Question about seat belt latch styles for those of you with experience with both styles.

The classic latch type seat belt with a 5 point harness looks like a bit of a puzzle to get into without some explaining, I am thinking of the passenger.

Is the cam lock quick release easier/better?

You mean something like this pic below? I have used them in other cars and prefer my "classic" Crow latch type. In my experience, it takes someone about three lessons and then they remember how to do it on their own. You just have to caution them about "undoing" it with a really hard pull, as the belts can go flying around a bit.

I have not had a cam lock system - but I'm not sure either one will be less of a puzzle to most of your passengers. I basically have to explain it to my wife everytime she goes along for a ride.

I have a cam lock on the 6-point on my GT, but had the "duck bill" on 4-point on the Cobra. I don't have a preference.

I have had both type and now have the crow latch system. I think they are both pretty equal once a person learn about them. And as Patrict said, they can go flying if you jerk them loose hard, but I found that could happen with both types.

I like the look of the latch system better, but that's just personal preference. As to a passenger, the first couple times a person gets in your Cobra it's like they're stepping in to a UFO. They can't figure out anything -- how to put on the belts, how to open the door, how not to burn their legs on the pipes, how not to break your visor or wind wing getting out, nothing. After a couple to three times, they can do it on their own. I don't think either system is inherently easier to use -- it's like different flavors of keyboards. The one you're used to using is the one that's easier to use.

If the functionality is the same as Twoshelbys suggests I will stick with the latch system as I like the look better also. You are right about the UFO, funny.
