Superformance Cobra for $20K

I would love to hear some input from a full time body/fender guy about what it would take to get this thing back together.

New sidepipes with ceramic coating $2,000
Body work to repair front end assuming pieces are mostly there $4,000
New Front suspension: $4,000
Straighten frame: $2,000
Repaint whole car $4,000
New windshield and frame $2,000
New Rack and steering column $2,000
New Wheel and tire $500
Other: $1,000

This little back of the envelope is around $21k and i'll bet i'm under by $5k. So 20k to buy the car, $26k to repair it, and then for $46k you still have a salvaged car. Might be better off parting that car out.

I wouldn't trust the frame either.

Parts car

KirkV 02-18-2015 02:19 PM

But it's already got the front tire off the ground and it's not even running! LOL

Parts car. Buy a basic kit from FF, Shell Valley, etc., transfer as many parts from the SPF to the kit as possible / needed, then sell the rest.

Assuming the frame isn't mangled underneath, it wouldn't be too hard to fix. Drop the front clip and put a flip front end on it. Fix the radiator support and other pieces. Not as bad as it looks.

Whether it would be cost effective is another issue, but a decent fab guy that can do bodywork might get a good deal.

"Relax, all right? My old man is a television repairman, he's got this ultimate set of tools. I can fix it."

Sold in 24 hours. See if buyer pays when he see!

We will know in due time if it was a good deal or not because the new owner will undoubtedly be here looking for help. Start checking you spare parts supply.

Maybe most of that damage will just "buff out"?

jumpman420 02-19-2015 10:25 AM

Hit a pole at 40, hard to think there isnt more there than one can see. BUT it really didnt "appear" that bad. Time will tell!

Looks sold? I wish I would have seen it, seems like a good deal

A good deal!!!!! Frame damage was apparent, body damage was more than was shown, suspension etc. By the time you were done with proper repair of the frame, suspension, body, paint, missing items, etc, you would have been in the car for 40-50K. Stick with us, we'll keep you from buying a money pit like this one.

You would have still been in it for 40K+ and you would have a car with a salvage title history that would follow it forever.

I think different tires would have helped steer it away from the pole.

I think a higher qualified driver of SP02297 would have helped steer it away from the pole as well

If the frame is ok and repairable the only sensible resurrection I think would be as a caged race/track car. Usable and resalable for it's built purpose.
