Valet Crashes a Cobra

And this is why I don't let anyone park the car.;)

Report: Valet driver crashes Shelby Cobra replica at Metropolitan | www.wsoctv.com

"The damage to the Cobra was estimated at $5,000."

Yeah, good luck with that.....

Bernica 05-07-2015 12:53 PM

I think they left half of a zero off that number, at least!

I'm thinking that the $5,000 damage report should have been for the 2007 BMW, which was parked nearby and hit with debris from the Cobra. Not $500.

And there's no chance that $5,000 will fix that Cobra. None. Zero. Nada. Not going to happen.

"My dad's got this awsome set of tools dude, we can fix it."

In what world would you let a valet park a Cobra, what color is the sky in that world?

REAL 1 05-07-2015 02:42 PM

Stupid is as stupid does.

Maybe in a world where you have decided to sell your Cobra but don't want the hassle of putting it on the market. ;)

I'd have to guess that the odds of a valet crashing your car are pretty high.

RodKnock 05-07-2015 05:22 PM

Every time I think of parking valets....I think:

Pretty good crash - I wonder how the crash test dummy faired?

When I was working I just had the valet tell me where to park or walk and show me. I would never let one of them park a car of mine.

Exactly. Hand the valet a $20 bill and tell him, "So where do you want me to put it?" ;)

Exactly no way in heck any valet is touching my Cobra. I think the sky would be very, very black.

Bernica 05-08-2015 08:23 PM

Handy your keys over to an 18 year old kid that you have never me before? I think not.

A friend of mine was a guest speaker at a big function at the Century Plaza Hotel. He gave the keys to his Porsche Turbo to the valet. He also checked the gas and mileage before he went in. When the event was over, they first said they couldn't find his car. When they did it was hot, gas was down and had 35 new miles on it! The Valet service denied any knowledge and the hotel just said that the valet was a subcontractor and to deal with them. That's how it works!

I doubt if "collector car" insurance would cover damage done by turning a car over to a valet. that is NOT participating in a car event. Shoot - most valets don't even know how to drive a stick shift!! Let alone something with torque.
