Posted on the Backdraft thread...silence.
So I have a Cobra with a 302 Ford, Tremac 3550 five speed. Early Backdraft car. The slave cylinder went out this weekend. From the forum I see the later models have a heat shield for the Master Cly. Even though my car runs cool that seems like a solid idea. So I put out a call for help to ask what slave cylinder combination is working well for owners with a Tremac and a small block. Seems common enough to me, but 0 responses. So I am throwing it out to the open Cobra forum...educate me!

My clutch setup uses the Wilwood PN 260-1304 master cylinder with a Perfection PN 37837 slave cylinder. This arrangement works ok. You could also get the parts from Backdraft's parts department. Shielding the master cylinders (brakes and clutch) is worthwhile but even so a clutch fluid change every couple of years remains a good preventative move. I'm coming up on 40k miles on #168 and have never had an out-and-out failure, but did change out both the master and slave a year or so ago as I was getting some inconsistent clutch response. It cured the problem.
Good luck!

My slave cylinder started leaking early on as well. It was a Wilwood unit. I swapped to a unit from what I think is either a Toyota or Mazda with a mount made by Bill Littleton. Never had another problem and my Cobra saw plenty of miles in both central Texas and Tennessee. Unfortunately Bill is out of business, but I am pretty sure Jay (Cashburn) at Vintage makes and sells a similar unit.
