I have searched here and cannot find much on HID light kits some guys are using. I am in the market to upgrade but would like to get a good kit with great reviews and duribility.

While HID conversion kits seem to be 'all the rage' and make sense (more light using less power), you should probably read this before going too far: Daniel Stern Lighting Consultancy and Supply

FWIW, I'm happy with H4 halogen lamps in my car and wouldn't convert to HID for the reasons mentioned in the linked article.

That's a great read, and I'm so glad that some others like yourself agree.

I absolutely hate how some people fit whatever bulbs they like without a thought of how the light then affects oncoming traffic.

I've got an HID kit on mine and there's a ton of light scatter that tends to blind oncoming drivers.

I bought the kit from Keith Craft several years ago. I contacted them about the problem and they would do nothing about it and walked away from any responsibility.

I would not recommend the conversion.

He does mostly custom jobs for Jeeps but does other vehicles. He also used my car and my photo on his business card. He can do anything from plain-Jane to super custom with colors, etc. Visit the above site or find him in Facebook for lots of photos of his work.

You have been given a lot of excellent information here. Please do not stick HID bulbs in your standard headlights. I tried that and drove oncoming drivers crazy. I upgraded my headlights to HID by grafting Nissan Murano HID projector headlight assemblies onto the back of 7" round headlight shells. It was a lot of work, but was relatively cheap compared to the units that you can buy. I also use a soft clear shield to protect them and they look ok. I get a really sharp cutoff with the low beams and powerful long range high beam when the shutter opens. I have also added HID driving lights for the wide open back roads that we run on our rallies.
