Food for thouhgt regarding Cobras

Food for thought regarding Cobras

It has been four years now that I own my car and had nothing but great memories and great times with it. I have attended numerous car shows, cruises, and fund raising rallies etc. But the one thing that irks me is the fact that no matter which manufacturer your Cobra is and how much you pay for it these cars do not get the respect as a vehicle as a major manufacturer's vehicle.

Yesterday I attended an huge annual show in my town with over 300 cars being shown, well for starters there was a big difference of opinion between the two guys sorting out as to where each car will be parked. My car was selected to be in the Mustang area which it was fine with me (being mostly Ford) but one of these guys gave the other one (member of his own club) for that decision. Ironically this same guy who gave the fellow member a hard time conveniently saved a spot for his son's Camaro in the Mustang area because of the shade...that is just plain nonsense.

The next issue I have is modern cars I mean 2015 or so participating against vintage cars and winning trophies, can't these guys wait 20 years to compete? come on!!!

There was this guy walking with another fellow spectator who went by my car and commented to his buddy "oh don't bother with that Cobra that is a POS kit!" now that is a car he was referring to a Ford GT parked next to mine... He continue to comment to his buddy that " he would not give the time of day to any "KIT" they are not real cars" Meanwhile he was seen praising hot rods which were fiberglass or had multiple manufacturers parts go figure....are those considered kits???? I guess not.

At the end of the day my car was awarded a trophy, I am proud, nonetheless annoyed at how we as a class of valuable vehicles is viewed. I am pondering on the idea of organizing a Cobra only car show and see what happens, any thoughts???
Have a wonderful day my fellow Cobra owners!!!

Isn't it strange that a replica of a car that sells for over a million $ is seen as poor cousin of the original,
yet a replica of a street rod. (a car that was never manufactured or sold to the public) is held in such high regard by the sidewalk experts.
My take on this is that one needs to adopt a philosophical view and say to the uninformed that they have obviously owned and driven both and have formed a considered position as to which one deserves their focus and praise.
After all talk is cheap and who are we to change an opinion formed on the basis of knowing nothing, owning nothing, experiencing nothing, building nothing, and capable of contributing to same. I rest my case.
