Monkey grip posi limited-slip diff
Anyone had any experience with this type of diff? I am so tired of noisy clutches in ford trac loc diff

No experience, but that looks like a dead-ringer for the PowerTrax Grip LS - I believe they're even using the same photo. WELCOME TO POWERTRAX - Powertrax
I don't know about noisy clutches, but I do know that when I went looking I went for a Torsen-type differential - no clutches, no friction modifier for the fluid / lube, and no need to re-build or replace clutches. I also faced the decision of going with a name brand (e.g. Eaton Detroit Truetrac or Powertrax Grip Pro) or save $100 and go with an 'off brand' copy manufactured 'who knows where' with limited or no support if something goes wrong. As the guy at Jeg's put it - "that's not where you want to save $100". I bought a Powertrax Grip Pro and I'm very pleased with it. YMMV |
Terry, I used a Powertrax in my NAF for many years. I had a 9" Ford behind a 600HP, 600#s torque 496 Chevy Rat and never had a problem. Took a little while to get used to the occasional click, when backing while making a turn, but I got used to it. It was really easy to install and it would make both 325x50x15 MT drag radials patch equally. I was thoroughly satisfied with it and will get another, if I ever need such a thing. Well worth its price.

The Grip-Pro, OTOH, is pretty much seamless operation - it acts like an open differential during normal cruise and quietly locks up and does its thing when it needs to. Highly recommended for a street or autocross car. |
Thanks guys, I had the same clunk problem with the Power-trac, is this the same technology?

Many people hear Powertrax and all they think about are lockers - that was all they used to make but they now make limited slip units as well. Check them out: WELCOME TO POWERTRAX - Powertrax
