What kits are using what mold

My understanding is that all the kit manufactures are using a mold for the shell that is a copy of the original. But there appears to be slight differences, when talking to one of the kit manufactures they mention that there were three body shell originals.
Dax was one of them, I can't remember the other two. Can anyone shed any light on this, or am I completely off the mark here.
Cheers
Jon

Ps this would be for the 427 shape for example. Apparently the first ones were hand made, which is why there are som subtle difference?

Many years ago, I started a thread here to see how many we could identify. That is, how many replicas were molded (splashed) from original Cobras. The list wasn't very long.

My guess is the majority of them were "eye balled."

All of the original Cobra body panels were hand made and fit over a wooden buck when they were welded together. Some minor variations in the shape of the body happened, even withing the same series.

Given they were all hand made, some natural variation would of happen. So when some says, that kit has a closer to original shape, is there an accepted std?

Here's a great page showing side shots of various cars - original CSX3155 and a number of replicas. It's worth noting the Factory Five shot is NOT the current Mk4.

Added to my earlier post. Apparently I was snoozing, or perhaps in a hurry to get out the door to a football game (Roughriders vs. Alouettes).

The DAX car out of the U.K., do we know its origin, apparently the original designer of AC ace, John Tojeiro, was a director of AC cars.
