Looking for homologation info for '64-'65 FIA 289 Cobra...

Doing an engine build for a UK customer, running a Kirkham 289 Cobra in FIA road racing class. Anyone have any papers handy? Need some engine rules...

Intake options?

Compression ratio?

Camshaft rules?

Anything about rocker arms?

Amount of overbore allowed?

Valve size limits?

Hi blykins: Homologation papers have often been on e-bay. PM me if you can't find them.

Cheers
Greg

Check with Vernon Estes (The Turd here). He seems to always come up with lots of the old homologation stuff.
He's on Ebay too..

Greg, do you have them?

I ordered a set from ebay (from Vernon I think) but was wanting to do some planning before they get here.

Hi blykins. Sorry, I've got the 427 papers so I can't help you with 289 info.

Cheers

Just a thought. Would the Registry have the info you're looking for?

Cheers
Greg

Not 100% sure on this but believe regs/rules are very tight, I think the FIA approval # your looking for in this case is 115, I would strongly suggest that you have your client obtain & forward the FIA stuff to you if you intend to abide by those rules, my thoughts on your questions below from stuff I have read in relation to Daytona Coupe, it may not apply to 289 Cobra.

Intake options?48 IDA's

Compression ratio? As high as you can obtain with flat top pistons & 289 Hi Po type heads

Camshaft rules?Flat Tappet & I think the old 'C7-- Le Mans Cam

Anything about rocker arms? The old ball & stud used by HP 289 etc- 1.6/1 rocker ratio

Amount of overbore allowed? Service sizes for 289 at time- presumably 4.030"

Valve size limits?IIRC 1.56 ex & 1.875" inlet.

IIRC block had to be 289 2 bolt, the later GT40 is allowed a pre production version similar to the Boss302 block.

I could be wrong as to the requirements for the series your customer intends to compete in though, get the rules in hard print before starting.

Thanks Jac, that's a big help.

I do have papers on the way and I will ask my guy which series he wants to run. I'll have to do some research on that as well, I didn't know there were multiple series.

my427cobra, I did register on the SAAC forum. Haven't got a reply yet.

Everything should be listed here.
