CMC Street Beast

Out of curiosity what details give it away?

Marc Wulf 10-20-2015 08:42 AM

Fuel Fill location, short Roll bar,Interior. Company was run poorly and out of business, but the product itself was okay. Like any kit, it's how well it was put together. Did you get a good deal? Looks nice. What kind of power?

My parents bought it on a whip and didn't mention price. 450hp 302 they claim, it was just delivered the fuel gauge was not working (which they knew about) so in the shop now, should get to drive it this weekend. I have 3 other classic cars I've been on the fence about building a cobra for a while now.

Thanks for the information!

Imho

That's an Excalibur. Notice the hood latch, shifter, parking brake and firewall. Measure the wheel base. If longer than 90" that is the give away.

No, this one appears to be a street beast, an Excalibur tailights are round, SB/CMC are not. Inside door handles on the SB are sourced from the compact Chevy/GM/Chevette style, Excalibur uses the later style GM style. Engine/body corners are the same for both. One uses a Ford bump stop (adjustable) the other is a GM bump stop (not adjustable). Dash is all wrong for an Excalibur as well.

You can always tell a SB by that 4" deep, flat rear cockpit edge.

450hp 302

heh-heh...
