Knock Off Wheels on Pick Up trucks

curious if anyone has attempted to put shelby knock offs such as PS Engineering or Vintage wheels with the real spinners onto a full size pick up truck. I don't know if the 4WD hubs are an issue for a trigo style adapter. if anyone has experimented or has photos - I'd love to see what they look like!

I would be reluctant to put wheels designed for a 2500 lb car on one that weighs twice that, and has more left/right weight transfer too.

I think that is a good point, and I never considered whether or not weight would be an issue. I believe that many of these heavy trucks have lighter weight aluminum wheels, not sure what the knock offs are made of. Certainly will read up on max weights for vintage and trigo like wheels.

The adaptors will not fit with front hubs on a 4X4, a 4X2 will. However again the weight rating on the adaptor and wheel will not allow any payload. Take a 2600# Cobra and divide by four. A 6000# GVW light duty pickup will almost double the loading.

Those trucks with alloy wheels have 8 or more wheel studs and they are on a much larger pcd than most car applications! Not only the weight but also the wheel offsets involved in some truck applications would grossly overload a knock off / pin drive setup.
The only vehicle I can think of that even approaches what you suggest was the UK Ford Transit Supervan which was a publicity stunt of essentially dropping a van body over GT40 mechanicals, don't think there was anything of the Transit running gear used and I don't think it ever hauled much payload!!:)

After reading your post I searched and found an article about Lynn with a pic of his F100 with the Buick Motor & knock off wheels, to put your mind at ease why don't you contact him and ask if its ever been a problem on his truck, sounds like he uses it to tow his cobras and dragster to events. nothing better than getting real info from someone who's been there and done that!:).
