Pretty neat place.....sadly lots of overpriced items in the store but the cars in the heritage center was well worth the trip. The tour guide was decently knowledged and entertaining. I would say the ability to see CSX 2000 was the icing on the cake. What a piece of history!!

Did you sign the wall?
|
That I did!! Better be tall cause it's full !!! People have now moved to the floor and window frames do to no space.
|
It's a fun place. We should do a "meet" there one day. Clear skies, cool weather...tomorrow maybe? ;)

I try to go over a couple of times a year to see what they've changed. They used to not allow pictures of the shop area due to privacy concerns over whose car might be "discovered" but I guess they must have gotten over that.
The wall is sort of cool. They didn't move the wall from the Speedway site so this is filled up with new folks. When the wall up there filled up they added blank panels on a knee wall. |
Cool part was the #26 Daytona Coupe was getting picked up by its new owner. It was in the heritage center until he showed up to put it on his trailer.... It was a 50th Anniversary model. Lucky guy!!!!

I just went for the first time last week. CSX 2000 was great to see in person. We had a great guide. Being a Superformance owner I asked about the relationship before I told him I owned one. He had very complimentary things to say about the relationship, quality, etc. I felt a little more proud of my car after his comments.
The Ford GT in the showroom was a cool story as well. Ford sold the prototype to Shelby for a dollar. It had a code name that escapes me now, but it was something like Isabell. Also confirmed the GT 350 name was derived from the number of steps from shelbys office to the shop. I signed the wall and off I went! Cool scene. |

If it is a 2005-2006 Ford GT the car that Shelby has is referred to as "Workhorse 1". The program code name for the Ford GT was Petunia. |
Petunia. That's it! Thanks

Great share.
