Price drop

Curious if the one at $229K really sold since it said the auction ended without listing a buyer?

that would have been a hot price for a plastic body

1795 05-18-2016 04:50 PM

That would be a high price for any cobra replica. Not sure who would pay that much, unless they mistakingly thought they were getting something else. Does anyone know of a replica selling for $200K or better?

A late CSX 427 sold recently for over $200. I don't know the actual amount though.

I think Evan stated on another forum that he sold his alloy CSX 4206 "privately" (not an auction) for $228,000, IIRC.

Didn't he sell it to Dario Franchitti the race car driver?

Yes, that's what Evan said in his post(s) on another forum. Franchitti is retired now.

Just saw CSX 4206 a few weeks ago. Let's just say that photos he posted didn't tell the real story. Anything Evan 'shared' is suspect. Be happy he's gone, guys..let it (him) drop. Forever. Really.

Between my typical healthy dose of cynicism and Evan being Evan, yes he has fibbed and omitted salient facts on occasion, especially in that 100-page doozy of a thread, I'm sure there's more "stories" to be told about CSX4206. ;)

But time to move on.

It is. The car is now in great hands, and will be used & enjoyed properly.

End of story.

Thoughts on this car at Hillbank?

While we are talking about cost of replicas.... What are your thoughts on this car at Hillbank?

Available is a rare to market CSX1000 Series Shelby 427 S/C. This Hand Rolled all Aluminum masterpiece, CSX1020, was fabricated in England and completed in 2005/2006 [VIN: CSX1020]. This car was painstakingly built to its correct look for the '60s era. Brand new with only 21 miles on the odometer. This is an investment quality car you would be proud to have in your collection

Thanks!

Dave

Hell, hacks like that would probably even put Tri-power on their 289.....
