Gates PowerGrip heat shrink hose clamps

Anyone ever use Gates PowerGrip heat shrink hose clamps? I've heard they are good enough for racing use. They don't dig into hoses like slotted clamps, and they look very slick. The only downsides I can think of are cost, and that they aren't reusable.

Not reusable but they work very well and are used on many medium and heavy duty diesel trucks so you know if fleets use them they work.

Very slick! Here is a video about them...

Damn those fine people at Gates for figuring out another slick way to take my hard-earned money. Very innovative.

Definitely a solid in-shop repair but I'm not so certain it would work as well on the side of a road. ;)

You just add a butane or map gas torch to your stuff in the trunk and make sure you have extra new sleeves..;)

Or throw some standard clamps and a knife in the trunk

Much better and safer idea!;)

Very nifty, but scheesh, $5+@, one time deal?

Hey, for the analy neat among us, $5 bucks a pop is cheap. I like it. But its not for my car. I want to see clamps. It should be a hit with the show-chrome crowd.

Not for show. They hold better than clamps, I use them. I'll use the cheap stuff on a car that doesn't want to kill me.

Harley uses them on the VRod coolant hoses. I experienced them when replacing a cracked aluminum filler. Easy peasy. They are great for tight confined locations.
