I was sorry to see Evan go as well. He's a stubborn and opinionated SOB, but then again so are most of my friends. Away from Cobra arguments he seems to be a pretty gracious and good humored fellow. His inability or unwillingness to simply say "whatever", walk away, smile and let people think what they want about his car both fascinated and amused me over the years. He's a passionate gearhead like most of us here and I wish him well, though deep down I somehow hope he ends up keeping his amazing (Shelby ;) ) Cobra.

I've been working a potential deal with a past vintage Shelby client in Australia, the problem he seems to have is with the comparison of Evan's car (which on full disclosure I have a hand shake deal for a percentage) vs the brushed aluminum car that Vern has for sale (which strangely, right now is not selling either). Even with shipping, and a high estimate of 20K (Aus) for paint, he is still way ahead of the game. Especially considering he wants to actually drive it. The other issue has to do with the way it is (legally I might add) titled in NJ, as that shuts the door on 50% of the overseas buyers with cash to burn.

Otherwise, as you (and I) can attest to, it's an absolutely stunning car up close and in person.

Bill S.

PS: Evan still has some really nice HiPo Fords in his garage, so no worries about that.

Now you made me curious - why is that?

Damn, that car is stunning. I love it. Every detail is awesome. Clean black cars are a definite weak spot for me. I really appreciate them and when an owner knows how to properly detail (a very rare ability) them I salute their efforts. I don't know if this car and owner is in that category as all I have to go on is a few photos. The photos do show the car very well. They are nicely done, indeed.

Yeah I actually miss his post... It was the Jerry Springier of CC once they got going but I actually learned a lot in the course of the mayhem !!!

I hope he keeps that amazing car and finds his way back here.

Sheesh. It's like a memorial in here. Is this Evan? Attorney - Evan Mason Harris - Aiello Harris

Winchester67 01-22-2016 08:48 AM

That is one great looking kit car.

JimH 01-22-2016 08:56 AM

My uncle had one.

I'll tell you what...if I ever had the need for a headstrong, stubborn and tenacious attorney, Evan would be on my list!;)

Igofastr 01-22-2016 11:03 AM

Evans's gone?

Never mind the car, its a nice replica.

Evan's gone?

Dang it, I just got back from Costco with a big box of microwave popcorn! Now what am I going to do?

Buzz- do you still have a copy of that drawing you did of Evan and I about to battle?

Maricopa 01-22-2016 12:13 PM

So I'm guessing he's finally going to get that FFR spec car and go racing?

Don't read too much into the legislation that you refer to. It requires the seller to install a modern (new) emissions compliant power train. The market for such a configuration in the US seems to be fairly limited for the Cobra market where most people prefer a period correct type of power train, ie, big block original or small block old style. Furthermore, the only engine that is on the list (as of today) is the Chevrolet LS3; no Ford product is qualified yet, although you can't imagine a Coyote is too far away. Factory Five will probably sell all the 32 Fords they are allowed to make.

NewYorkGuy 01-22-2016 12:53 PM

Hmm, at Real1's asking price, the buyer is buying the cobra story, not the car. Good Luck With Story.

Absolutely - I was involved in a big federal construction claim and 3-week trial in Washington a few years ago (I was on the Fed side) and we had a Justice Dept attorney trying the case who I nicknamed My Cousin Vinney (but only behind his back). He was the most aggressive, hard-nosed, tell-you-what-he-was-thinking, testosterone loaded attorney I could imagine. I kept asking myself how did the Justice Dept manage to hire him and where did they find him - he was the complete opposite of what you would expect of most Government attorneys. He even got pissed off at his co-counsels line of questioning one day who was questioning a witness on the stand, starting a big argument between the two in the middle of court, resulting in the Judge calling the trial for a while. The Bonding Co. attorneys were just sitting there - like what's going on here? He was so aggressive that when the Judge handed down the decision (about 90% for the Government) he protested part of the decision and more or less got in the Judges face, telling her where her facts and findings were wrong and forcing her to back down and revise the opinion (upping it to about 95% in favor of the Gov't).

From what little I know of Evan, I think he could be related to My Cousin Vinney at the Justice Dept. But, its good to have him on your side.

Dan,
You just described a big part of my life. I have been in big construction industry for 40 years, but I'm on the other side as the contractor fighting the agencies and bonding companies on claims etc.

Yes, my best lawyer is a little Italian gal from NYC that is a total pit bull. I mean brutal! I have seen her tear up a room of lawyers that just left everyone speechless.

I have a feeling Evan is of the same cloth if he wants to be!;)

jhv48 01-22-2016 02:57 PM

This is beginning to sound like a memorial to the guy!
I think he's still with us!

Bernica 01-22-2016 03:07 PM

Geez! I just found the ad and posted it for everyone. Never thought it would get this much attention, but considering who's car it is I guess I shouldn't have been surprised.;)

Tommy 01-22-2016 03:33 PM

Being a pit bull on behalf of the client who paid you is admirable. Being a pit bull for yourself when you are just plain wrong on an issue is not.
