Quality Transfer Pump
I recently searched for a small transfer pump that was nicely made. I wanted all brass or stainless steel that was able to be taken apart to lubricate it and replace parts like o rings. I looked at dozens but found only one that looked good. Unfortunately it was from China. I have a rule to avoid China at all costs, but I am slowly changing that. I am now considering those that are priced considerably above similar products if it looks like there is a reason for the price difference. I bought this tool hoping I would not be disappointed:
Stainless Steel Siphon Transfer Pump Gasoline Water Oil Extractor | eBay. You can also Google "transfer pump", "suction pump" doesn't get it. I was not disappointed. It looks like something NASA would use and, although I have used it only a few times so far, I think it will continue to please. We Cobra owners who do our own work always need a tool to add or remove trans & rear oil, brake fluid, and who knows what else. My first use was to suck out older gas from my '52 Cushman Eagle. After doing it I took it apart (simple job) and cleaned it out with alcohol-something that can't be done with a typical pump. Lesson learned: continue to avoid the super cheap stuff from China as they make a a small profit on each sale but count on selling you another after it fails, and we say "oh well, it was cheap". But, you might consider the higher priced things, if you can find one.
