Holley TFI ID
1 Attachment(s)
Hello everyone, Can some one ID this Holley TFI? The only markings are " Holley Annihilator. It is on the distrib. of a 5.0 L 302 EFI. Holley hasn't been helpful. They tell you to leave a call back #. Haven't had anyone call. On hold until you give up.
I'm doing a TFI relocate. I'd like to know the Ford or Motorcraft part to use. The EEC is 1988. This TFI has been on the car since the build in 2002. Can't get any info from builder or previous owner. Will need a backup. Thank you, Nick |
Here is some info in modules from the Holley EFI forums. I would use the original Motorcraft modules if replacing.
Clicky - scroll down to the bottom, starting around post #26 then to the next page. I removed my EFI system. I have one of the Ford modules if you are interested $75. |

I don't know how to tell what you have. Maybe Holley tech would know, but good luck on finding which one of their tech employees actually knows the right answer.
What I would do is back track from holley to ford, then see what modules ford used in that model. For you, find out what modules ford used in their 1988 ECC. Then get that motorcraft module. |

I bought this because I have the Mallory HiFire 6AL (not the MSD 6AL) and that is the coil they recommended. I don't think they make this coil anymore and can't find it for sale anywhere. All the reviews say it dies quickly so they probably took it off the market. I then started my hunt for a new coil. I ended up with the 5527 coil instead of the 8227 since all the reviews for the "newer" 8227 were terrible. I would stick with the 5527 if I were you. I haven't had any problems with mine (so far). I also found an original Ford TFI coil for dirt-cheap off ebay ($10 I think) that I have for a spare. As far as the TFI ignition module, Danny on the Holley forum says only to run original Motorcraft modules. They supposedly help with starts and high-rpm misses that the aftermarket modules can cause. I never compared them - I switched out the module that came on the MSD distributor for the Motorcraft one before I installed it. I also used a remote mount kit for the ignition module - clicky. PM me if you are interested in either of these (module, remote mount). |
Thanks for all the help Doc. I'll PM.
