It sounds like you have great cars so if its going to be a hassle, screw it. I have two garages and it wasnt worth the money or hassle to do the second garage, i was going to epoxy it myself but it wasnt worth the hassle of moving everything etc etc. My garage floor doesnt get anywhere the attention from people as my toys do. If i were to do it over i think i would of spent the money elsewhere.

That's why I painted with the concrete floor enamel. It's easy to put on, easy to touch up, and requires very little skill and very little maintenance. If you stain it, or gouge it, just paint over it and it blends right in. |

Dan,
How old is your slab? Is it cracking much? All concrete cracks, but full curing time is important.
If there is no moisture, then maybe another option is industrial sheet vinyl flooring. It comes in big rolls and the seams are welded with a special process so you end up with a seamless floor.
Goes down in a garage like yours in a day. The only issue is that if you have any moisture in the slab and you have the vapor barrier below, it only has to one way to go. Most installers will do a moisture check first.

I originally painted my garage floor. It was a new garage and I waited the recommended time before painting it. We poured the floor extra thick and so I don't think I waited long enough for it to fully cure. It was such a mess that I thought the only way to fix it was to cover it up. I used racedeck diamond plate and have been fairly happy with it. I have black and white tiles and as someone else has pointed out the white tiles get stained. I had to weld pads on the bottom of jack stands but have not had a problem with floor jacks. The tiles will also buckle a bit as they expand under direct sunlight. They go back down as soon as they cool.

New concrete can expel moisture for months, especially if you have a vapor barrier under it. There is a simple test they use with small clear plastic cup that they seal over the concrete and let it sit for a while. If the cup has condensation in it, you are still "bleeding".

A word of caution on the terrazzo. I have it in about 2,000 square feet in our home and it is not impervious to staining. Anything acidic, dog pee, stomach acid or anything acidic for that matter will etch it. The only way to get rid of it is to have it repolished and it is a true PITA. It will also crack and replacement is a real chore. I don't know how it would stand up in a garage environment.
I would think the polished concrete would be a better solution and much less costly. But remember there are two types of concrete; one that has cracks and the other one that is going to crack.😛😛 |

Does the racedeck impact acoustics, as in deaden sound and stop echoes?
I have a finished 36 x 50 garage. Every year at Christmas time I clean it up for a couple parties of ~ 50 people. Noise is an issue with a bare concrete floor. I could carpet it, but that would defeat the easy clean up when kids spill things.
Also would cleaning the racedeck with a power washer:
be safe on the racedeck?
dry in a reasonable time?
be clean enough to eat in the room?

RaceDeck has a reputation for being sort of clackety when walking on it. They recommend putting down something like landscape fabric or Tyvek to dampen it but you would need to find someone who has done this to find out how effective it is. Powerwashing would not hurt it I'm certain. It has channels underneath to allow water to drain and water vapor to escape but I suspect drying would be a lengthy process - especially if your floor is fairly flat and not sloped to drain. I probably wouldn't do it.
