Pretty sure that's a photo of CSX6166 from Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale 2013.

According to the auction catalogue, the colour is Viking Blue.

Dear all,
It has been a while since I posted to this site- long enough to where I forgot my login!

My cobra is at the paint shop due to a teenager not paying attention! Due to the damage, and being on the road for 11 years, I thought it may be time for a fresh look.

My wife and I really like this color and would greatly appreciate any assistance in finding a paint code.

Thank you in advance,

Simon

BINGO!!!!

I used this very image as the inspiration for my build in how I envisioned I wanted my Cobra to look. I am a qualified and experienced spray painter with my own commercial body shop and have spent literally hours perusing all my live PPG colour chips (well over 1000 of them from all manufacturers) in an attempt to find something that looks like this colour.

......and I came up blank!

Except for this photo which I haven't yet been able to mix up and spray out the colour to check if it's the one: What color Blue is this Roadster? - FFCars.com : Factory Five Racing Discussion Forum

Since I can't get that 'Viking Blue' colour with any certainty, I've relegated my decision to either going with one of the following (in no particular order):

* Honda B92P Eternal Blue Pearl
* Ford Deep Impact Blue J4
* Rolls Royce Royal Blue Metallic
* Chrysler Deepwater blue
* GM Quicksilver with gloss black stripes and an arctic white keyline stripe on the outsides...with semi gloss black 15" Trigos with polished spinners. Btw, this combo keeps talking to me as silver is so darn easy to keep clean...and that's important on a Cobra that is not easy to wash.

It's the hardest decision I have ever had to make in my life. Naming my children was easier!! Good luck with your choice Simon.

Regards,
Simon

I read somewhere that they were the same. Can you describe the difference? Just goes to show... :-)

Guardsman is the darkest of the three blues; Viking is lighter - like a sky-blue metallic; and Princess is more silver-grey than blue.

Mine WAS Titanium, and it looked good. Almost stayed with it - but the silver-blue looks better - and is also easy to keep clean with detailing spray. I went with Sherwin Williams Azzuro California - a Ferrari color that has been around for a long time...

Azzuro California...looks great!

Update; called the painter/owner Saphire blue a '66 Shelby color and might be a '66 T-bird color not a Mustang color.

Wasn't cobras original racing livery Viking blue and Wimbledon white?

Yes, in '64. It changed to Guardsman Blue/ White in '65.

Sapphire Blue was not used on Mustangs other than as a special order. It was a color used in '66 exclusively on the T-Bird and on Shelby's GT350.
