CSX 4813 For Sale Over on the SAAC Forum
No affiliation, just passing it along to the enthusiasts on this site:
1965 Shelby Cobra CSX4813 Black, fiberglass body, no stripes, KC alloy 482, Tremec, 321 miles, $115,000. Seems like a reasonable deal. "Engine block stamped with the serial #4813." So that makes it worth much more. Ya, know, it's got "matching #'s" and all. I know I've mentioned this delusional line of thinking in prior threads.:rolleyes: |
Finally a csx priced fair. Not inflated because of the name.
|
School me: why is this replica worth almost twice that of most other fiberglass replicas? Better quality components/fit/finish? Carroll's signature? The floor mats? What?
|
It sells for more because it costs more to build. The csx roller is the most expensive and their are people out there that have to have that csx name and numbers.
|
The fit finish on an SPF are better than a csx.

Can you imagine if you blew up the original Keith Craft alloy 482" engine and had to replace it? I'd actually think about pulling out the original "numbers matching" engine and installing a replacement engine. Say like a Cammer! :D |

Gotcha. I always wondered what the big deal was. Ah well....numbers matching is always important. hahahahaha

Did original CSX cars (2000 and 3000) have their CSX numbers stamped on their 260,289, 427, 428 engine blocks? If so was it done by ford when the engine was built or done at Shelby prior to installation.

I'm not sure if the 3XXX series chassis were done the same way or not. I don't study the coil spring cars much. Larry |

For the record, I clicked on the link and the ad states SOLD. Ad was edited on 8/25/16.

Why would the fit and finish on a SPF be better when SPF also makes the Shelby?

I also see you have two (2) posts. The answer to your question, and almost all of the other ones that will come to mind, can be found by using SEARCH. This topic has been covered MANY times and there is no reason to diverge this topic into yet another rehashing of it. |
