It's been a really long couple of weeks working on this crap and I am REALLY sorry for the inconvenience. Hard drives took a dump and the back ups essentially backed up corrupted data, so I had to go back in time.

Sorry...head lowered in shame.

As I said in our email exchange, new server deserves a fresh load of current and up to date software. You can then port over the database, clean up the bugs, and be done with it for a while (a long while hopefully). Don't cut the corners, just clip the apex a little and it will be well worth the effort at the finish line.

PS: having all of the forums running the same rev of software package will also make it easier to manager/maintain, but you knew this already http://www.clubhotrod.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Patrick I know what you are saying. I've asked in the past and I'll ask again Where and how do I contribute to the site with paypal. By the way I've been in charge of people also, a pat on the back does feel good. I get money talks but words do feel good, it's not always about the dough.

Is the gold star contributor mean every year it's taken out? or can you just donate when you want, anytime you want.

I believe you can set your PayPal contribution to either be a one time gift, or a recurring payment. I set my recurring payment up many years ago, and it just automatically fires off once a year.

I've often regretted picking that username, it went against everything I've learned in my profession. Another thing I've learned and am good at ..is taking heat with a SMILE :)

Hi

I have been trying to send a private message to a member, but that feature doesn't seem to work anymore since the system crash. The message looks like it goes, but nothing shows up in the Sent box, and he never receives it. Thoughts?

Bill

Yes, but remember back when I updated the forum software on Club Hot Rod? OMG, people lost their marbles...I couldn't win no matter how hard I tried...made me really gun shy since, which is why I have not updated CC. Dunno.

Thanks for all your hard work Brent. It's much appreciated.

I do indeed remember, but I'm sad to say, CHR is perhaps a lost cause due to dwindling attendance and the lack of new blood. If you had the chance to keep any resemblance of the old format when upgrading (IE: Classic look as the default), that is all that would be necessary for the Club Cobra and Club Chopper crowd, which appears to be your two largest automotive forums in your empire.

Im don't know what software that Brent is going to update to but if it is XenForo you can go to the CACC site and see what that looks like. It looks a lot different but isn't hard to use.

You efforts are really appreciated, I understand the pains of dealing with technology. Keep the faith, we have faith in you.

Brent As other have said, much appreciated! This site is priceless and I missed it, even if it was for a short while. I am hoping when you have it all in order all the old threads and pics are preserved, it would really be a shame to lose all that valuable information
The wait between searches would certainly be nice to get rid of.
Today is the first day that any of the thread links I receive by email are kind of working.
As for this thread, Here is the hyperlink (below) I clicked on, and this thread came up instead.

These pictures (mine) are of Kevin's frame we have just finished repairing and preparing for a new aluminum body.

I have no idea how they attached to your thread.

A big thank you to Brent for keeping this site going.:D

Brent,

Did you lose more days of posts again since you came back online? I was going to reply to the thread I created about my recent trip to Kirkham that I posted shortly after the site came back online, but I cannot find that thread now to add to it.

Could that just be a temporary thing while you are transitioning to the new server and the thread will reappear after the transitition? Or did my thread just get lost? If my thread is gone I can recreate the thread again so others can see the pictures, but I would prefer to wait until you have the site stabilized first to avoid potentially losing the thread again.

Thanks,
Ken

ALL COBRA TALK is the most active subforum on this forum. There is a date gap from 8-2 on. For example, the topics about "it's back" and "it's not back" with people (me and others) trying to probe what could be seen and what errors we were getting are gone. So the period from the failure to the first return to the second return has backed up even before the first failure. I could see just before the first failure that things were not healthy because things weren't being displayed correctly. This is the last good backup before the internal database corruption.
