Fender mirror removal
Cannot find the info I have read before somewhere about removing fender mirror and a small plaque or cover the hide the screw holes. Anybody remember seeing that info ?

There are several types of fender-mount mirrors - and methods of attachment. Start by removing the screw/nut at the front of the mirror body. You should be able to slide the guts out. If you don't have a nut, you may have to access the mirror mount from inside the fender.

My car is white, picture to left of user name. Removing the mirror is not a problem filling the holes is. My thought was to finish out the season since installing a Raydot mirror on the windshield post the fender mirror should go having two is overkill. Well maybe not the fender mirror gives me a great view of the rear fender. I thought is was this forum I saw the article on those quick fix badges.

Removed fender mirror on SPF522 and found the holes were small enough to inset rivets with silicone. Matches the hood rivets perfectly and mirror can be reinstalled when I sell.

I take a thin piece of stainless and hammer it with a leather hammer to match the curve of the fender. Then I polish it and take it to a knife shop that engraves what ever I want on it.

Thank you Dwight that is exactly what I was looking for. How thick is the stainless plate you use?
After having the fender mirror off really starting to enjoy the clean fender lines without it. May take the car up to the body shop I have used in the past and see about getting the holes filled. |
