Side Pipes
My new MKIV has been done since May. I have struggled with what pipes I want and have come to the conclusion that they need to be black. HOWEVER I would like a ceramic black chrome if you will, has anyone done this? Just BQ black is not what I'm looking for. Current F5 SS pipes are not getting it.. Many Thanks in advance.. Chuck

I had most of my exhaust black ceramic coated but it's eggshell black. I haven't seen a gloss black ceramic coating or a black-chrome coating.

You may try All American Coating in Tampa.
Ceramic Coating | Tampa Bay, FL | All American Powder Coating or PerformancKote in Orlando. Performance Kote - High Performance Automotive Ceramic Coatings They both offer a black satin ceramic coat. I've seen some the PerformanceKote's work on other peoples equipment, pretty nice looking. I don't know how the durability of Black Chrome is or what effect it would have on your mufflers since the entire side pipe would dipped for the electroplating. |

Good point, my head must have been cross-threaded on.....
I'm sure you're correct. These folks in Orlando would be a good POC for the Black Chrome questions, we used them at least once over the years to hard chrome some landing gear struts on antique jets. Black Chrome - A.M. Metal Finishing Inc. of Orlando, Florida |
Don't confuse black chrome with ceramic plating. Two totally different processes, different results, and different functions.

I'll check out Performance Kote since they are down the street. Hope they have what I am looking for.. Many Thanks
