Engine Oil
This has probably been talked to death.
I have an early 302 putting out nearly 400. With the extra capacity pan, dual filters and oil cooler, its just over 9 quarts. I would like to go to synthetic, but am concerned about the viscosity. AND being an old Ford not used, the leaking problem.
Thanks

Unless it was run with synthetic from day one, i would stick with conventional.

I've used both many times and never had a leak with synthetic. I'm back to regular HR-5 Driven. I like the cling to metal parts in storage it has as well as it's package.

I had a '90 model 5.0 (302) making over 300 hp & tq to the rear wheels. Drove 1500 miles and changed to synthetic (Mobil One). It did not leak nor could I see it burning oil but it used qt to qt half per 1000. I changed back to dinosaur oil.
My rule is; if the motor was build by the manufacture to use synthetic oil, then use synthetic oil. If not, use the oil the motor was designed to use.
