Here's a recent thread from someone who helped a widow sell her husband's alloy-bodied Contemporary. Not only was the alloy body a one-off, but the Contemporary had real magnesium Halibrand wheels. They have to be AT LEAST 10-15-20-25 years old. How does this one wheel look? Looks in pretty good shape to me, not knowing which production run they came from.

Heres that thread:

It is absolutely amazing how you can irritate so many people, so quickly, without even trying that hard.

OK then. My apologies. I agree with everyone.

Magnesium wheels suck. Don't buy them. They're very chemically unstable, they corrode quickly even with the coating and when the owner takes care of them and, when the Cobra owner runs them into a curb, which is a frequent occurrence, they burst into flames.

And Patrick's new wheel color looks gorgeous and even resembles a magnesium wheel.

It has really been something special to see how this Bromance has unfolded over time.

Yes and, over the years, I've learned to overlook his tendency to go passive/aggressive at the tail end of these threads.

You're so predictable. I have an ulterior motive.

If I'm seen as the last defender of the magnesium Halibrand Cobra II wheel and give up and agree with everyone else that they're an awful choice and owners of these wheels should dump them on the market, then I'm hoping I'll make a "great deal" on them.

Because "we" never win anymore. And we're going to start winning again and keep winning until you're all sick and tired of winning.

Seriously, I have no idea why these wheels are worth $10,000 +/-. Magnesium Halibrands should be worth less than a comparable alloy wheel from Trigo due to their inferiority. :)

Rod, passive/aggressive? Surely you jest?

Let's try and make wheels great again.

You will not be able to affect the market price of mag wheels via the use of "fake news." But, feel free to give it the ol' dem try....

If someone would just tweet out "The 'failing' magnesium Halibrand Cobra II wheel will never be worth anything because of fires and corrosion" I think it could affect the market of the wheels negatively.

At least for a few minutes, before they would recover. :p
