1969 - World of Wheels, Minneapolis

Well it's not really 1969, but if it were, our Performance Ford used car lot may look a little like this. For reference, the striped car is a Superformance with a 427 FE, the green car is my ERA with a 427 FE, and the comp car is sort of a scratch build with a modified 1981 Allied Body. Enjoy the photos.

That is really a great bunch of cars. The 1964 yellow Galaxie 500-XL is like one that I had except mine was red with black interior and the dual 4/427 with four speed. And if I could get one for the price on the windshield I would take it in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Awesome display. At those prices, I will take all three. Do you take checks?:)

Nice photos - a fun and novel idea to put what where (I assume) the original sale prices on the cars.

We decided on a point in time to set up our "used car" lot. We chose 1969. We did as much research as we could to find reasonable prices like you would have seen based on the condition and mileage of our cars. Therefore, these are "used" car prices.

I was SHOCKED at how much this experiment and history lesson back in time was completely LOST on so many people attending the show. It would probably be different if we were at an all Ford show or something. However, at the WoW, many of the people passing through actually thought they could buy those cars today for those prices or was wondering what was wrong with them to offer them for those listed prices. The fact that we were all dressed like a bunch of 60's car salesmen didn't quite register with them either. They must have thought our club was filled with weirdos.

Still, it has been a fun weekend. Last night, I spoke to a fellow MN guy who was the original owner after Shelby of CSX 2557 - quite a significant factory team race car. He's now 80 years old and his name was Dick. He enjoyed seeing our display.
