Wilwood Pedals
So I'm ready to address a very poorly designed pedal box in my EM Cobra. The gas pedal is the only thing that makes sense, clutch and brake are way off.
My thoughts were to just order the predesigned/assembled Wilwood Clutch/Brake set. I do like the idea, however they seem to be designed to use two manual brake masters. No issue with the clutch as I'm already using a 7/8 master, should work fine. Back to the brakes, my Cobra uses a single, power assisted master with a C4 corvette factory brake setup. I'm ok with scrapping the boosted brakes and go to the manual setup, but has anyone gone in this direction? I'm not sure what the factory C4 brakes would like for a master, 3/4, 7/8, maybe 1". Same for both front and rear? Or is there a Wilwood clutch/brake combo that excepts the current single boosted master? Any guidance is greatly appreciated! |
Wilwood should be able to answer any questions you might have. It's all about getting the correct line pressure for the brakes to function properly that would be done with sizing the master cylinder and proportioning valve.

I used 5/8" F / 3/4" R master cylinders for the short time I ran the C4 J55/13" factory brakes and EM pedal ratio.

Thanks again! |
Another question, the part number below is a direct replacement for the 85 C4 Corvette brakes that i have. If i eliminate the brake booster (Toyota part it seems) and use the 7:1 ratio Wilwood pedal, should that work?
Btw, the link takes you to a NAPA M-4555 7/8 bore MC. I did call Wilwood, they were fairly helpful but want to sell we one of their units. I like the idea of having a local part available for some items. https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/NMAM4555 |
