Rear Firewall/Bulkhead
Good evening gentlemen.
Regarding My 66' Elegant motors Cobra.
I have a few questions about my rear firewall or "bulkhead".
the body "lip" that continues nearly to the back of the seats, recessing the actual firewall.
Any ideas why this kit was fabricated like this? or would this normally be an added lip of fiberglass?
Ill try to insert photos to show.
But basically, mine has no lip that continues out, just kinda banks and the wall slopes down, whereas every other kit i see-the wall run strait down 90deg.

Not very many replicas are real faithful to the originals in many details. Have you looked underneath to see how the frame is constructed in that area and clearances to your rear bulkhead? That could provide a clue. If there is room between the bulkhead and the rear frame kickup, you might be able to refabricate the bulkhead and move it back a little under the rear cowl lip.

The framing is immediately behind the firewall.
I first thought the same, but recently I measured the center dash to the center wall lip (racing stripe center to center length of the cockpit) and its much longer. So im thinking a lip should be fabbed fwd not back.
Agree?

To my eye it certainly does look better with the lip so go for it. But it is a lot of work to get right.

I'm thinking a nice leather trim section might be the better solution. Can you match the paint if you make the modifications you are considering?

I would agree - even a 1 inch build out would look much different and wouldn't interfere with the seat position.

I could, there's a list of things id like to do regarding body work.
Like;gas cap, trunk hinges, door handles. I've never done any fiberglass work, so id definitely have a professional do that
