Jag rear Axel nut torque spec.

I am installing pin drive wheels today. I noticed that my left Axel nut is hand tight. If the cotter key was not there the wheel most likely would have exited
the car. So ,what is the torque setting on the Axel nut?

My old E-type shop manual says 140 lb.ft.. This rear is a little newer
but I would think that it will be close to that. If I don't hear back soon thats what I will torque it to.

Thanks, Ken

Now looking at the Axel nut, I wonder if it is only a tighten and back off for a wheel bearing preload. If thats the case then 140 lb. ft. is WAY to much.

suggestions? Ken

Nor,

This reference might help: Setting the Hub Carrier axle bearings

You might want to check the end float in that hub after you tighten it. There may be a bit more work to do
