For Sale Suggestions
I’m starting the process of selling my beloved Superformance cobra. I’m interested in any suggestions/recommendations regarding advertising the car for sale. First-hand experiences would be appreciated, but I’ll take any input that will enhance the process.

Lots of photos, be sure to show any flaws, chips, etc. Because EVERYTHING looks good in pictures you don't want a prospective buyer to show up and pick apart the car because you said "showroom" and he sees "used".

Get, read, and follow the picture taking instructions on 427 Cobra Country--Ford AC Cobra replica manufacturers SUPER-SITE. Then place your ad there. It is the clearinghouse for cobras for sale.

Thanks. I've heard nothing but good about Cobra Country. Will have to explore it further. |
Ditto on "Cobra Country" but also hit your local Craigslist, CC, Auto Trader, and any local "cars for sale" publication you might have. Get it in front of as many eyes as you can, and be patient and be careful. Also, for $100 you can put it on "Bring a Trailer" which has pretty hefty readership. Put a reasonable reserve on it, and you just might find the right buyer. My 2¢ worth.

Thanks! Great suggestions. |
Shoot Bill S. an email/pm -- he's mrmustang on this site. He knows more about buying and selling used Cobras than the rest of us combined.

Sailfish, on "Bring a Trailer", an SPF with a Roush 427 just sold for $45,500+5% buyer's fee. It had 24,000 miles on it. I think someone got a good deal and the seller got enough to satisfy him. One way to make a quick sale.

Not familiar with "Bring a Trailer" but will try to check it out. Thanks. |
I sold my ERA on Cobra Country. Follow Mark IV's advice about the pictures and take the time to properly prepare the car before listing it. There are a lot of them out there, you need to show people why yours is better or more interesting than the other ones on the market. You also have to decide on how quickly you want to sell and adjust your price accordingly. Some people decide to hold out for a high sale point, while others list at a bargain basis point in order to move their car quickly, and others are some where in-between.
Good luck. |
I just sold my Backdraft last week using Cobra Country - Curt over there is interested in every aspect of the process and helping you. He has a good idea of the market and the prices. My car sold the day the ad went up and I had money in hand in about 3 days. PM me is you have any questions -

I sold my Superformance on Cobra Country. Curt has some excellent guidelines on how to photograph your car for best results. My car sold in 7 days at my asking price. Call Curt and talk to him.

Thank you all. Great suggestions and great advice. Fortunately, I'm in no hurry to sell so I have plenty of time to work through the process. |
