My new mod, I finished yesterday.
Since I'm just about finished with the hard top I had to do something with the elongated hole I had to make for the middle roll bar.
Since the roll bar was way too high for the top, I had to lower it a few inches [still above my head level, and about even with the windshield now]. So what to tastefully do for the elongated hole? Well, I made a plate out of aluminum, and its held down by chrome button head bolts. It turned out looking way better than I expected, and I think it looks better than the bar looked before when it was just going through a rubber grommet. Sorry I couldn't get better pics, but its pouring rain outside, and since I don't want to put the top out in the rain, these pics were the best I could do, but you get the idea. Better pics as soon as my T bolts from the front windshield holdown arrive. http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...psw7j9abq5.jpg http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps0e8jqzde.jpg |
1st class ! Very well executed.

You did a very good job and I agree that it looks better that way.

I finish appears kind of dull, may I suggest polishing the aluminum to a mirror finish.
I do like it. Almost like the 2 other bars are now wanting their own aluminum trim pieces, except circles. :-) |

Its the picture. I did machine polish it using several buffing wheels with different compounds. For the record I think I will just make my top more of a permanent part of the car, as its just easier to do IMO. The top can/will still be able to be removed, but it would take more time vs some of the other hardtop builds I have seen. |
