Nope, I quit the internet business years ago. Thanks to Mark Z and his facebook site going public stocks, I retired. BTW, how much do you pay for advertising here on CC ?

onefastmustang 10-04-2017 12:40 PM

I'd consider it. I have an 18 cabinet cage in a datacenter. I am sure my gear could handle it among its other tasks..

clubchopper.com loads fine and that site never crashes. same owner as this clubcobra site.

onefastmustang 10-04-2017 02:30 PM

Oddly it is the same IP address so the same server. I suspect the issue then is a software/database issue. Most likely Mysql in serious need of maintenance. Or even upgrade as they made some serious improvements in later versions.

onefastmustang 10-04-2017 02:36 PM

In fact there are at least 4 sites running on the one server..

admin@mediastation:~$ nslookup www.clubcobra.com
Server: 192.168.86.1
Address: 192.168.86.1#53

Non-authoritative answer:

admin@mediastation:~$ nslookup Welcome to Club Chopper--The world's largest Chopper site! - Club Chopper

www.usafiat500.com canonical name = usafiat500.com.

So one of them could be driving the whole thing downward.

onefastmustang 10-04-2017 04:37 PM

Removing 2nd post that duplicated previous post.

His chewing gum collection and a used Prius doesn't seem like a great deal for Brent, now does it.:LOL:

As for the contention the moderators have a say in anything about the server or running of the web site, sorry, no

no

Why don't you buy the site? you are a guest member but behave like an unofficial Hall monitor on CC. I don't have $400 for a server. Already spent my hobby money on 2 tickets to see Bruce Springsteen on Broadway.

Anyways It ain't about me and it's not a money issue why this site breaks every few weeks.

$400?? Wow.. Where do you get such a deal? My servers run about $7000 each. Of course they have minimum 32 cores, 1/2 TB of memory and access to 500TB of SAN storage.. :)

Brent Mills 10-04-2017 11:39 PM

Guys...I am sorry...I have worked on this for many hours over the last week and a half and have others who have been digging in too.....I am not certain what is going on yet as other sites on this server are running fine.

Please also note fellas, and I'm not looking for sympathy, but I have, along with the moderators put in thousands of hours over the last ~18 years. Please bare with me. I do apologize for the inconvenience. I will get it resolved.

I have another server which I am working on deploying, but as some of you know, as the years pass, new OS, different hardware, various versions of PHP/MySQL and other software decide not to play nicely, so it's not as simple as just copying everything over to the new server and pressing go. Lots of debugging there to get everything working too. So, I am trying to fix things in the short term on the current server, because something got buggered up, but nothing changed by me, so debugging that, when the software is the same for other sites that are working, is not proving easy.

I am trying...Nothing has been more important to me over the years than to keep you all connected. I'm sorry.

Brent,

Some of us appreciate your hard work and dedication, others, well, their posts speak for themselves

Brent,

The people that know what it takes to keep a site going are behind you and understand that this kind of stuff can take a long time to dig out. Ignore the trolls like New York Guy. He posts like he knows everything and every post he says something that contradicts some of his previous I am brilliant statements. I wish that I could help but right now I am working 4/7 hours a day on another problem.

Ron

brent, appreciate very much your efforts to run this forum!

Brent,

I have no doubt that you will figure it out, and greatly appreciate all that you and others have done to keep this site running. If I had any computer savvy I would offer to help, but alas I really do not have a clue.

Brent: I won't "bare" with you,, but I will "bear" with you :3DSMILE:!!
Thank you for your efforts, current and past.
My browsers (chrome and firefox) tell me this site is unsecure.
I popped over to "Cobra Registry", and both give me a warning that that site is "dangerous" !! Very strange that both Cobra sites seem to be "infected" ?
"One fast Mustang" appears to be computer savy, it might be worth a call/PM to get his take on the situation. ! Just say'n .

Ron61 10-05-2017 10:32 AM

Motorhead,

Cobra Registry was infected sometime between 7 PM Pacific Time Last Sunday night and 3 AM Monday morning when I went to log in. I have sent the virus and malware definitions to the owner and he has his IT techs working on it. I fear it is going to be sometime before they find that stuff as it took me almost 7 hours to find the virus names that my security was blocking. Just being the Administrator I can't do anything more and some people, depending on what browser and what they use to access the site don't get any warnings. I have had the moderator post and tell members who spend time on the site to check their computers to be sure that they didn't get anything in them but from my research it seems that what is in there only rides on a download. This is the initial message that my security gives me when it blocks me from the site.

URL:Mal virus is a generic detection for malicious URL or web page. The detection of URL:Mal covers web site that is infected with virus, Trojan, and other types of malware. The same will also pop-up if a harmful Java Script file is spotted on the web site

Ssshhh... The internet has been my life since I was about 10 years old. I get to play with some pretty cool high end toys these days. 3par, Exadata database machines, and all of kinds of high end servers. I oversee a small 50 million a year company but have been approached by Google, Ebay, Amazon and quite a few others to leave. But I won't. I like small companies and believe in loyalty. I totally understand the pain Brent is probably going through. If he would like to enlist my expertise in mysql/php and my vulcan like logical mind, its available free of charge to him. :) But first you have to get rid of that virus called Windows 2003 R2. Just kidding..

Moto One 10-05-2017 11:51 AM

Thanks Brent and Ron, no worries, I'v been around for a wail, and will be. And here I wanted to blame the slowness on ISO 11.0 update.

Mark.

onefastmustang 10-05-2017 03:09 PM

Brent....

Hopefully you are reading this thread.. You might want to look at IIS. The TTFB is really high for your site, around 30-32 seconds. Once the first byte is delivered the remaining site comes up in 4 seconds, at least for me. Sounds to me like an application pool issue in IIS. There are lots of threads about this issue with IIS 6/7.
