shipping parts to Germany - could anybody help?

Hello gentlemen

Is there anybody, who can help with the shipment of parts to germany (rims, power steering box and so on...)?

I've already ordered some parts in the US in the past, but the shipment costs were in any case comparable high. So, is there anybody who could offer a better alternative?

Cheers
Werner

UPS, DHL, and Federal Express are pretty much your only options, unless you find a freight forward company that will take on such a small (not by the container load) shipment.

I thought for instance about a company / dealer who ships complete cars to Europa, rims and smaller parts can be easily lied into the trunk.

Contact addresses to those people would be interesting.
( I know well, there are a lot of advertisments from companys which ship cars to Europa in the internet, but all of these companies are only names without reputation. I search for contacts, which can be recommended )

Those companies you are thinking about will not break the trust of the owners of the cars to "ship" something within that does not belong to the owner of the vehicle. I for one would never use such a company, not many would, so you may be slightly delusional in your current train of thought.

You might find a company that consolidates shipments into cargo containers and buy some cubic feet/meters in one of those. I have no idea where you'd even begin searching for someone like that and they're probably not going to save you much money since that is precisely what DHL does for their cheapest rate (slow boat from the US to Europe).

werner, don't struggle with the shipment, the costs are what they are, the alternative is bying in europe...

You might contact a couple of freight forwarders and see if you can find one that consolidates small shipments. Try Pentagon, Lynden, Concordia, etc. If they don't do this they may be able to refer you to someone that does. If you find someone that does, they can give you instructions and advice.

Good luck.

Chris,

your hint to freight forwarders like Pentagon, Lynden or Concordia sounds interesting. I'll try to contact them.

Hi Werner!
Normally USPS is the cheapest. If you have more time a container service will be an alternative - Have good experience with Oliver - Startseite - usa-importservice.de.
A lot of people from the corvetteforum have good experience with him. Easy person to deal with.

Have a great day!
