CMC/Street Beast Cobra Door Handles and Roll Bar question

Hey guys,

I'm doing a full resto job on a CMC Cobra I bought from the states. I am currently having issues/questions with the following:

1- Can't seem to find the door opening handles and after a lot of research, I saw on a forum post in here that they come from a Chevy Chevette, googled every single Chevette year I can find with no luck. Anyone knows where I can get them or from what car they come from?

2- I can't help but notice that the Roll Bar on CMC Cobras is quite smaller/shorter but wider than the rest (FFR, Backdraft, Shell Valley, Superformance, etc.). Is there a specific reason for this? I know for a fact that my roll bar is bolted onto my chassis and unlike what I saw from some other Cobras where it's purely cosmetic (yikes..) but still doesn't explain why it has to be shorter?

Thanks!

I bought tubing same size as frame mounted pieces, cut off original pcs. And welded on longer tube to get it higher than my head. I'm not sure howvthats going to effect the convertible top though.
As for the handles I thought they were from a MG. They were plastic and ugly as well as they didn't look right. I went to Finishline and bought latches like the originals. I haven't got them figured out yet.
Where are you located?

No convertible top for me but I figured that I'd find something more on the ready side rather than cutting and welding. Do you have a clue where I'd find one ready made with the correct height?

Well.. that was easy... wow the amount of time I've put in finding these door handles and only to find out that they're MGB door handles... thanks! I've tried to get the door latches from finishline but they were out of stock and no ETA for them.

I'm located in Dubai.

Yamajee, make sure you visit the CMC/Streetbeasts forum on the right side of the home page. Lot's of intel with that forum.

The Streetbeasts roll bar if done correctly is a mirror image to the original, same height width. The resto you are working on may have been done to the owners specs. My roll bar is welded to the frame, albeit I don't have the third leg and I have dual roll bars.

If your door handles are like mine in the photo, Don B is correct they are not from a Chevette, but rather an MGB. Mine are metal and I like them,

Here's a pair on ebay, of course you won't use the external handle

Yamajee where did you buy your car?
