Quick Jack measurment
Can someone check the distance from the back side of their quick jacks to the rubber grommet (front and back)? Thanks

I don't understand the question. The rubber blocks can be positioned anywhere on the trays. The dimension of the trays is dependent on which model you get, and is shown in the spec.

Hate to bring up the obvious, but I think you two are describing two different things.
The racer's alternative to bumperettes=quickjacks. A compact way of raising your car high enough to work on it=Quickjack. |
Very likely the quick-jacks were positioned so that the transverse bar on the hand-lift just avoided denting the body. That creates the least stress on the mounts and chassis tubes.

I think the tubes that are used as a spacer between the body and jacks are to long. I don't know that there is a standard length. I have just cut the tube so the jack is closer to the body. This is a CSX4000 series, the rear brackets. Hmm, the forum won't let me upload the picture of the front. The front distance is about 2.25 inches to the inside of the bracket from the grommet, for the lower bolt. The top bolts are closer due to the curve of the body.

You would want the backside of the quick-jack to be perpendicular to the ground and you would need to visualize a round bar inserted into slots between the two jacks to set the minimum projection from the bodywork. This bar must adequately clear any body work. As to actual distance from body, minimal with an eye on aesthetically pleasing I would think. But be advised, on the Superformance, the quick-jacks are not functional jacking points. You will crack the fiberglass when they flex if you try to use them to lift car. I really don’t think there is any “correct” distance. The angle they sit at seems to be more visually important.
After replacing the bumpers with the jacks, keep a running list of how many times you mangle your shins with them. I think I am up to 5 times on both legs so far.... Blas |
