What all is involved in changing out the positraction discs in an XKE rear end ?

Replacing the disks are easy once you get the thing apart. The problem is getting it apart...or should we say...putting it back together.

The early carriers had the shims on the outside of the unit between the quarter shaft housing and the case. Just be sure to save those and mark them per side. If you are going to tear it far enough apart to replace the disks, I would put in new bearings and seals.
