auto cross Good Guys Scottsdale
Mr Fraser kicked some very heavy sponsored butt today. Almost by 2 seconds. Way to go 66 Cobra. The last two runs i saw were smooth and the exhaust did not knock down the cones. Thanks Gary

NO comments on an original 66 Cobra beating all hi dollar teams
|
Glad to hear. Hard to beat CSX3170. Sounds like the guys have it sorted out with the new engine setup.
|
Well done guys - I just love the science and skill they bring to setting up the car and driving it. Respect.
|
Nice to hear that it went well. A lot of effort and nice to see that "old" technology can still compete well with new technology.

Thanks guys, we blew over some pylons on Friday so we installed the Flow Master stainless steel mufflers for Saturday. That really quieted the car down (GoodGuys were happy) but it knocked about 100 horses out. We found that these mufflers did not have the exit velocity to bowl pylons over so that was good. The course was tighter than ever because of last years crashes. We also pulled some rebound out of all four corners and used the new 50 pound stiffer rear springs to balance the car, handling was quite good after that. We had some lean spots in the tune under autocross conditions but called Richard Nedbal of FASTMAN EFI and he corrected the tune for autocross driving.
The car was good from then on and Scott did what he had to do he was consistent and fast on all his runs. He set fast time on both days, won his class, and won the shootout against last years winner Robby Unser. Knowing Scott and how he drives I know he had another second in his back pocket if needed. All in all a very good weekend for us. We also worked with a young man that is just three years into autoxing. He has an old Blazer on a Corvette chassis and we helped him with spring, bar, shock and alignment settings. He was 3rd over all right behind Robby and ahead of all the big dogs so we really celebrated Saturday night. The Blazer is hilarious to watch because it does not look like it would be fast, but is. The crowd loves it and cheered every time he ran. Our next event is Pleasanton this weekend if it does not rain. |
Amazing! I'm glad you're finally getting the EFI system whipped into submission.
|
Congrats, to you & Scott, on the win. Sorry to hear about the 100HP loss, but even with that you still kicked their a---s. Good luck this weekend, Cheers Tom.

Spot on, I believe it was Mark Donohue that said "You only have too much HP if you can spin the tires in top gear at top speed" ;) I'm glad you got the cone problem handled, again "take it to them", this weekend, Tom.
|
Haha. Donohue also said that he has enough power if he "can spin the wheels at the end of the straightaway in high gear". Could have a tyre wear problem though
|
I believe Glen, that was the 917-30 he was talking about ;) You maybe right on that quote :) Rather then mine. I'll have to look that up, leave to you buddy, to one up me :) :) Tom.

any video 3170? Would be cool to see as always- would also be funny to see the blazer run!

We are headed to Pleasanton Saturday morning and I will get video there for sure. Here is a link to a spoof on the Optima Ultimate street Car series. WARNING very bad language, it is only funny if you know the characters involved but it caused quite a stir in that community. https://www.captiongenerator.com/857...uble-at-Optima |
