2018 Pleasanton GoodGuys Autox
We had a couple of good days last weekend Scott came through again and set Fast Time both days won the pro class and then won the pro-Am shoot out Sunday afternoon. We had our share of troubles though, the O2 sensor went south Saturday morning so we had to get an open loop tune from FAST MAN EFI over the phone. Richard was really helpful and sent two tunes after looking at on board data that worked pretty well. Seems O2 sensors don't live much longer than 110 gallons of 114 and Q16. We had some inside tire lift on high G turns so are going back to 700 lb rear springs. That hurt us more than the exit push, everything is a compromise just finding the right choices is the hard part.
We pulled some really big rpm as you can hear on the attached video. He went one full second faster than this video on two later runs and was the only car in the 57's Car is good but can be better, headed to Delmar in two weeks, hopefully with everything right. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kebN14i7MAA |
You are making really good strides toward getting it the way you want it. And the car looked good in that video in spite of the lifting of the tires. Maybe get a few spare 02 sensors to carry with you. Congratulations an the weekend wins.

Nice run! I think that I might get a little nauseous doing all those quick turns and hard accelerations! You are constantly trying to find that ever elusive perfect set-up. Things are never the same and as you point out, for every change that you make to adjust for one thing, there is a cost on another end. That can get expensive having to replace O2 sensors that often.
Good luck at the next Autox. Jim |
Congrats again!! Two Good Guys in a row. Enjoyed the video.

Great news you guy's. The car look's well planted, going back to the 700Lb rear spring's, should remove the rear tire lifting (Watching the Video), I agree. Scott the Cobra with your driving style, now look's smoother, and you know that the fast way. You guy's are making our old cars, look good out there. Congrats on two in a row, and continued good luck in Delmar, Cheers Tom.

Thanks for all the nice comments, here is a video from one of our competitors and good friend Brian Hobaugh's Corvette. Brian has won the Optima Ultimate street car and GoodGuys Scottsdale shootout in the past. You can see how bumpy that course is from in car video. Scott has videos inside the car but has not down loaded yet, I will post when they are available.
