Headers/pipes

I have a Backdraft with ceramic headers going into stainless side pipes ... problem is, they are not a flange connection, they are "slip-on" held together with springs. They rattle shake and leak. I noticed most newer models of BDR have a flange connecting the header to the exhaust pipes. Has anyone else had this problem and changed the slip-on's to a flange connection?

There's a pretty good thread with lots of pics, it appears they used FFR flanges.

I don`t have a BDR but my kit came with the slip fit exhaust design also.
I converted mine to a flange fit.

Luckily, I work in a sheetmetal fabrication shop. I was able to get some 3/8" steel from my job and run it over to a buddy`s shop who has a high watt laser and got my flanges cut out.
Then I had our welder weld the flanges onto the headers and sidepipe assembly.
He did tack welds at first so I could verify alignment and whatnot.

All in all, my exhaust itself took almost a solid 30 days from start to finish. It was the biggest pain in the a** during my build BUT......the results have been solid so far with no leaks.

30 days is a good while!
