brake line on SPF wilwood caliper stripped
Never been out as far as I know, was going to go with stainless lines. Took out the old brake lines, went to install the new banjo fittings one of the holes was completely stripped one went in tight and two more feel like they are ready to let go...wonder who the hell torqued these down.
The calipers are of course discontinued... The inlets are 3/8-24 threads wonder if the threads are repairable or am I looking at new calipers? This is something I don't want to half a$$... Thanks Steve H SPF 1764 |
Drill and tap to 3/8" NPT. Install a 3/8 NPT x -4 or -3 nipple. Switch to AN connections instead of banjo.
I would completely disassemble the caliper to make sure I got all the chips and shavings out. |
So a male -3 an to npt? Sounds like the ticket, nothing really wrong with the calipers...rebuild all at the same time...perfect thanks.

I'm with Bob on this one, dump the banjos. The original build used NPT or a gasketed fitting into the caliper body. You can disassemble the calipers to help with removing the chips and completely flush out. Wilwood has instructions on their site for the assembly.
Check pistons and bores while you're there. Not really tuff but you do need exercise a bit of caution to not damage the bores. Pistons, seals and parts are readily available direct or through Summit and Jegs. Jim |
I am thinking you misidentified the inlet thread on the Wilwoods. All of the Wilwood calipers I have work with have had 1/8" NPT inlets. This has been over the last 30 years. As mentioned, just retap to the next size up which is 1/4" NPT. Aeroquip part number FBM 2515 will then adapt your caliper to -4 line. i did not readily find an adapter to -3 line.
