Black Friday?

At work the guys got to talking about Black Friday and all of the useless stuff that they're excited about buying at severely reduced prices. I mentioned that it's too bad that there aren't any crazy discounts on Cobra parts or Shelby memorabilia. Then I started wondering if there was anything out there.

As unlikely as it is, has anyone here seen any Cobra related items that will be on sale on Friday? I'm not expecting ERA to give 50% off of their next 3 FIA cars or anything crazy like that (though that would be of great benefit to me), but it'd be cool to hear about something that would actually get me excited for black Friday like the guys at work seem to be.

CJ428CJ,

These have been on the top of my 'future gauge' list, including the GPS speedometer.

I’ll keep this in mind for consideration of a future Black Friday purchase and holiday gauge project!

Thanks for the tip, another useful bit of info from this site.

Brent

It looks like Factory Five have 25% off parts through cyber Monday.

Sigh...

I've wanted a GPS-speedometer for a long time, and was interested in the Speedhut unit until I saw

As long as you keep the gauges out of inclement weather (like leaving your vehicle out in the rain) and keep direct contact with water as minimal as possible, the gauge should operate great for you.
I've been caught i the rain enough times that I know it will inevitably happen again.

Maybe there'll be a waterproof one eventually

Hi Tom,

Good info. That's why I like to layout my wish list projects and let them mature in time, as I continue researching them, for this very type of consideration.

Perhaps if enough interested individuals let Speedhut know we'd (prefer to) buy the GPS gauge if they achieve a waterproof version, it would speed that solution path?

I loosely recall on my initial review another consideration, perhaps antenna placement or such.

Well, another one in good time, like various LED light considerations!

Take care Tom...Brent

Ok, Tom, I think I've figured a solution for our open cockpit cars...just clear Flex-Seal the entire interior and drill one weep hole in the floor! :) Brent

Tom, I've had one in my car for 5 years with no problems and you know how much rain I've been through!

Brent,

LOL!

Reminds me of one of the many things that Wade Chamberlain pioneered: he put a 1" hole in each footwell under the carpet and used a rubber plug to seal it.

That would have saved me many rolls of paper towels.

I did notice that Speedhut, if you request it, would put some sealer on the inside of the glass around the periphery that may make it water-resistant enough to be practical. They are still careful to say that it's not waterproof.

Maybe I should try that!

Tom

Now Tom, what would give you that idea, just because we talk Cobras almost every day! :) Brent

Hi Tom,

The solution Mr. Chamberlain pioneered reminded me, while I may not have clarified it in my spec comment for the weep hole, it was considered 'typical' (common per like system), so also one in each side floor board!! :) Brent
