Quick Jack question

I'm switching out bumperettes for quick jacks. Shell Valley has chrome, Finishline has polished stainless steel. I have chrome roll bar and stainless steel sidepipes, so either finish will work. Anyone have experience with either of these? Hard to tell quality from their websites. Any other sources I should look at?

Thanks,

Kevin

Kevin,

My ERA had chrome bumperettes and they loved nice and I did not have any problem with them.

Kevin - might be a good idea to check on the bolt spacing on the quick jacks to be sure. I think it was Karl on the other site that had to finagle his mounts on his FFR for some reason - don't remember if it was to just adjust the angle or if the hole spacing and mounting bolt sizes were different. Might be safest to go back to ERA.

Thanks Dan, I'll give ERA a call. I did check with Shell Valley and their spacing is 2 1/4", same as the ERA bumperettes.

I Took mine off, but would go back if they were functional

do any of the replicas QJs actually function? Would be pretty cool to be able to lift up and end in one motion...

No, do not do that! Even on the originals the quick jacks would deflect some and damage the body work. A much easier repair with aluminum than with fiberglass. On a race car a little body damage was not that important as compared to getting the car back on the track quickly.

Think I'll stick with my hydraulic jack :) - these are just to change up the look of the car. I took Dan's advice and called ERA. Always a pleasure to talk with Peter and he's getting the quick jacks, spacers and hardware together so it will be a simple swap out.

Thanks for the input.

Frankly i took them off partly as i got tired of explaining that those things are non functional replicas of what they used to lift the cars with on my replica...Plus with over riders you at least have some hope of the woman backing up in the mini van hitting them before the body work...
